Dreaming of Motherhood

Ladies, ladies, ladies…it is okay if your dream career is to be a mother. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a mommy. My parents have photographs of me as a child caring for my baby dolls (strollers, bottles, clothes, diapers…you name it). I cannot say that I remember dreaming of being a mom at the age of 3, but I can definitely say that it is something I have seriously dreamt about since meeting my hubby in 2011. Family is my passion and having a family of my own is something I am very excited about.

Before marriage, my hubby and I talked about how many kids we wanted. We both would love to have 3 of our own and I would love to adopt a child if it is in God’s plans. A year before we started trying to conceive, I got off birth control and started taking prenatal vitamins. My doctor recommended taking prenatal vitamins that have DHA to provide the correct nutritional support before and during my pregnancy. I also made sure that I was eating a healthy, balanced diet and working out regularly. At the time, I was working out in a heated room and sitting in a sauna. My doctor told me that for fertility and early pregnancy purposes, it is not recommended to be working out in a room that is 90+ degrees and a sauna that is 130+ degrees. I am not holistic in every part of my life but since our skin is the largest organ, I wanted to make sure I was not using an abundance of chemicals on it. With that being said, I changed my skincare routine to Crude and coconut oil, my nail polish (because I cannot stand looking at my nails without color on them) to Zoya (toxin-free) and switched my cleaning products to Murchison-Hume. Shortly after making these little adjustments to my life, we decided to start trying for our first little one…
